To serve or be served

"Bach wrote music to God. Beethoven wrote music as God. Two diametrically opposed understandings of who the composer was to be in this world. The romantic understanding of composers has largely dominated the world of music since Beethoven came on the scene. Music is now about the artists expression, their statements, their exhibition or even political statement. I may be old fashion in this sense as I stand firmly in the Bach camp, that music exists to serve and edify others, and so I compose music not for my benefit, but for others. What, or who am I serving.? If I am performing a concert I want my audience to leave feeling relaxed, entertained, refreshed. If I am recording a musician I want them to feel they can stretch their sound to its full extent. If I am scoring a film I want the story to be elevated, the director to be put at ease, and the audience to be immersed in the experience. I do not compose music for my edification, but for the edification of others. This is a fundamental motivating force in my musical life that I always keep in the forefront of my mind." - Aaron Walker

VIRTUOSIC COLLABORATION

The soul of the music comes from the musician, not the abstraction of notes on a page

Throughout the years, Aaron has had the chance to jam and bond with a bunch of wickedly talented virtuosos from all over the globe. These music sprites possess an otherworldly proficiency and an uncanny musical intuition that injects soul and sass into their tunes - something a stuffy orchestra could only dream of achieving. However, while these virtuosos are absolute wizards on their instruments, they may not necessarily know the nitty-gritty of media scoring. Many of them are self-taught rebels who wouldn't touch sheet music with a ten-foot pole. That's where Aaron comes in. He's the one who bridges the gap between the virtuosos and the media composers, who often don't speak the same language. With Aaron's help, these virtuosos can create one-of-a-kind scores that nobody else could create. At the same time, Aaron also guides them and keeps them on track with the story, like a seasoned media composer would. Reel coming soon.
